BAOLAI have mills to manufacture Spiral / Helical Submerged Arc Welded (SSAW / HSAW) steel pipe with OD range
from 219.1mm to 3500mm and thickness from 6mm to 25.4mm. Annual production capacity of spiral welded pipes can
reach 400,000 metric tons.
Spiral welded pipes comply with SY/T5037-2023, SY/T5040-2012, GB/T3091-2015, GB/T9711-2023, API 5L,
ISO3183, API 5CT, EN10217, EN10219, ASTM A252, ASTM A572, AWWA C200, AS/NZS1163 standards,
widely applied in oil and gas pipeline transportation, low pressure fluid transmission, structure for
construction and piling.
The production and inspection processes for steel pipes are arranged in compliance with API 5L and GB/T 9711
standards. All pipes undergo 100% internal welding seam inspection, 100% X-ray inspection (no blind areas at
pipe ends), 100% hydrostatic test and 100% visual inspection (internal/external welding seam and base metal
surface).

A spiral pipe is made by forming steel coil into a helical shape and welding the edges along a continuous spiral seam. It is also called SSAW or HSAW pipe and is commonly produced in large diameters.
Spiral Welded Pipes are made by feeding steel coil through angled forming rollers to create a cylindrical shape. The helical seam is welded, usually from both the inside and outside, using submerged arc welding. The finished pipe is then sized, cut, inspected, and tested.
A spiral welded steel pipe provides a cost-effective way to produce large-diameter pipes from steel coil. Manufacturers can create different pipe diameters by adjusting the forming angle. These pipes are widely used for water, oil and gas transmission, piling, structural supports, and infrastructure projects.
LSAW means longitudinal submerged arc welded pipe and has a straight weld seam running along the pipe. SSAW means spiral submerged arc welded pipe and has a helical seam around the pipe body. LSAW is commonly selected for thick-wall and critical pipeline applications, while spiral pipe is efficient for large-diameter pipelines and piling.
Baolai SSAW steel pipe takes spiral submerged arc welding technology with large-diameter and variable wall thickness, widely used in water supply & drainage long-distance pipelines, oil & gas transmission pipelines, bridge and wharf pile foundations, sewage treatment and coastal reclamation foundation projects.
