Fire Sprinkler Pipe Fittings

Common sprinkler pipe fittings include grooved couplings, elbows, tees, reducers, end caps, mechanical tees, threaded adapters, and flange adapters. A grooved flange adapter connects grooved piping to flanged valves, pumps, or other equipment. These fire sprinkler fittings support connecting, branching, redirecting, reducing, and terminating pipe runs.

A mechanical tee is a bolted fitting that creates a branch outlet through a hole cut in the main pipe. A gasket seals around the opening, while the outlet provides either a grooved or threaded branch connection. It avoids cutting the main pipe to install a conventional full tee.

A rigid coupling restricts axial and angular movement, creating a joint similar to a welded or flanged connection. A flexible coupling allows limited movement and deflection within its rated capacity. The correct fire pipe fittings depend on whether the piping system requires fixed alignment or controlled movement.

Grooved fire sprinkler fittings can reduce installation time, avoid hot work, and simplify maintenance or system expansion. They are assembled with gaskets, housings, bolts, and nuts, so sections can be disconnected without cutting the pipe. Flexible grooved couplings can also accommodate limited vibration or pipe movement when specified by the system design.

Threading creates screw threads on the pipe end for connection to a threaded fitting. Grooving forms or cuts a circumferential groove that engages a mechanical coupling. Threading is common for smaller pipe sizes, while grooved sprinkler pipe fittings often provide faster assembly for larger fire protection piping.
